But unlike so many other states where political infighting often lead to it being conquered by larger more unified states, Mandalorian Space was rarely invaded owning to its' peoples' warrior ways and unique resource, Beskar, which makes conquest of the region of space, while not impossible, does make it extremely difficult to commit, and as such the few times it has happened all the more notable.
The few times it was unified was often the result of a new Mand'lor being declared, where the region of space quickly unifies under their leadership in a Kraterocratic military junta-like government dubbed the Mand'alor Ke'gyce, but these states just as quickly fall apart once the Mand'lor is killed and a successor isn't named. While it has been a independent astropolitical entity for much of its' history, it was not a unified one, spending just as much of its' history divided into numerous smaller entities, be they clans, city-states, or slightly larger states, then as united as a common entity despite sharing the same overarching culture and society. Mandalorian Space is a region of the galaxy located in the Outer Rim, taking up a zone of space that borders the Mid Rim in the north-East of the Republic's Core, and for much of its' history was a independent political entity in the galaxy, not under the control of the galaxy's two primary superpowers, the Galactic Republic and Terran Imperium, and served as the heart of Mandalorian society and culture, which is where the region earned its name, and home to the Mandalorian peoples most important worlds and systems, Mandalore, Gargon, Concord Dawn, and Vorpa'ya just to name a few, with Concord Dawn serving as a gateway world to between Mandalore and the Republic-controlled Mid Rim.
